Your soon to be husband just gave you an engagement ring that you can’t stand. What do you do? And believe it or not, this happens more than you think, since less than 25 percent of brides are involved in selecting the engagement ring. But this is a tough situation; however, you can probably get the ring you want (or be happy with the ring you have) with a little creativity.

Keep It

You might grow to love the ring after awhile because of it’s sentimental value. On the other hand, if the ring doesn’t have enough bling-bling, with a tab bit of creativity, you could amp up the rings sparkle to met your eye.

Sell It or Exchange It

If you seriously cannot stand the ring, gentle ask your spouse if the two of you could go engagement ring browsing, but please don’t forget to reiterate that you are the happiest women alive, but you would really like to go shopping for a ring together. Provided that when your fiance purchased the ring a return / exchange policy came with it. If not, you can always sell the ring as a last resort. I know they probably exist, but I have yet to come across a jewelry store that will not work with a couple to help them purchase the rings they want.

Be Careful of the Repercussions

Before you say anything, think about how this may effect your fiance and how he might respond, because you’re the only person that knows how he’s going to react.

Personally, I would purchase the ring with the option of being able to exchange or return it for a full refund, simple because my fiancee wasn’t with me when I purchased the ring and she may not like my style.

On the other hand. If I hand a ring from my great great grandmother that was given to me from my mother (which I didn’t have), I would probably have a different point of view. Which is why I mentioned earlier, you’re the only person who know how your fiance is going to react.

Either way, I have yet to see a soon-to-be bride unable to get a different ring when the ring he gave her she doesn’t like. But, I’ve also seen future brides keep the ring despite of how much she dislikes it at first. The fact that he gave you a wedding ring that has passed down throughout the family is a trend that should not be broken.
